Apothecaria is a solo journalling RPG in which you take the role of a village witch creating potions for the unfortunate villagers, adventurers, and monsters that come to you for help. The potions you create and the stories that unfold come together to create a beautiful journal that is unique and personal to you. Fill pages with drawings of ingredients, stories of run-ins with thieving fairies and sleeping giants, and recipes for the potions you have created to keep you right in the future.
My name is Wisteria, and I'm the new witch in town. I am here to cure who I can, as fast as I can. I'm merely a novice, but my predecessor left me her tools and knowledge journal, so I can use those as a starting place. I'll learn as I go and pray to the gods to do well!

Mironwe Maerether, a druid half-elf, was brought in by their family. They've been creating standing circles everywhere, to the annoyance of everyone. I’ll need to head to Glimmerwood Grove and Hero's Hollow for ingredients.

Reagent: [COLDRUST★] - Difficulty 2
Coffee Caps card draw = J of ♣
After journeying to the Grove, I immediately found the Coffee Caps! Off to the dungeon. I pass a noble elf on my way out, but I was too excited about my quick find to stop and chat.
Coldrust card draw = 5 of ♣
Luck must be on my side today because the rust is right near the entrance. I gathered it, and as I headed out I noticed a crude map of the dungeon laying on the ground. Most of it was incorrect, but it did lead me to (6♣) some Liquid Fire. I scooped it into a flask and took it home with me too for later use! After making it back, I quickly made the potion for Mironwe.
The Rusty Macchiato
COFFEE CAPS crushed and brewed into a deliciously SWEET yet RUST-like tangy concoction, perfect for curing Druidic Madness.

Peyton Writingham, a 41 year old male human is the village blacksmith. A vampire sucked his blood nearly dry! On top of that he left his windows open and caught a darn cold! Men.
For this potion, I'll need to go to the Meltwater Loch for something to cure the [BLOOD★]. I'm thinking Slime Shells. To take care of the cold, I'll need Nest Scraps from the mountain. Thankfully, it takes less effort to forage in the springtime. Oh! I almost forgot. I'll need more Coffee Caps from the grove. This ailment requires 3 locations for foraging. Let's hope I find them all quickly, or I may run out of time!
On my journey, I realized that the Coffee Caps only have a 1 ★ rating. I need 2 for the SENSES problem here. Quick on my feet, I changed my plan to include Cynic Ivy. While it will be harder to collect, I won't have to travel to a third location.
Reagent: [SLIME SHELLS★★] - Difficulty 2
Author's Note: I accidentally made the slime shells difficulty 2 when it should have been 4. This would have changed the entire following outcome. Oh well, this was the best and most exhiliarating run, so it doesn't matter.

Ailment card draw = Joker!
The Joker card allows me to investigate what happened to the old witch.
What happened to the old witch? I never found out in my hurry to take her place... (3♥) But, as I'm cleaning around the shop, I stumble upon an old picture of her, tucked between some old books. I know it's her despite proof of this - it's just a sure feeling. Her hair in the photo is long, straight, and black, with the right side shaved cleanly. There's a scar on her neck, and she smiles with her eyes and only the slightest upturn of the lip. Shes hot.
I decide to clear my head for a little while and head to the grove. I close my eyes to think about the past couple of weeks, when I hear (J♠) a whisper of a wisp. It calls out to me, and I smile and welcome it near. I soon name it Willow. It has (J♦) a Magic Eye which will allow me to reduce the foraging value of all magic reagents by 3.

Knock Knock is a 54 year old female kenku and is the village leatherworker. Warts have begun appearing on her beak, and she is less than happy about it. This should be a fairly easy case, all I need is boiled smooth-croak mucus from the Loch and crushed songberries from the Grove.

Reagent: [SONGBERRIES★] - Difficulty 2, Adds +1 Sweet
Smooth-croak card draw = 4♠
While walking the beach, I don't notice something sticking out of the sand and trip over it! Frustrated, I pull out a flute! I'm shocked! It's beautiful and made of bone. I place it in my pocket to bring home with me. I pull on my gloves and begin collecting smooth-croak mucus from the Loch frogs.
Songberries card draw = 10♣
I travel to the grove next and easily pick tons of Songberries. As I'm going about my business, I begin to feel faint. I hear songs in a language I can't understand... Soon I find myself awaking in the middle of a fairy circle. I guess the fairies didn't like me taking their berries... oh well. I take my basket back from where it lay beside me and head home with my bounty.
Songberry Tea
SWEET SONGBERRIES brewed in boiled SMOOTH-CROAK easily made the warts disappear, and raised Knock's spirits!

Arara Mystralath, a female elf is afflicted with Dragon Sickness causing her to obsessively collect and hoard objects. Particularly, she is hoarding numerous jars of pickles and people are starting to worry.
To tackle this problem, I think I'll need to head to the grove and look for the following:
Reagent: [COFFEE CAPS★] (again) - Difficulty 4, Adds +1 Sweet
Reagent: [SURGEON SAP★★] - Difficulty 8, Adds +1 Sweet
Surgeon Sap card draw = 8♣
While searching for the Surgeon Sap, I accidentally wandered into the Weaver's Wood. The giant spiders there were not very quiet about their desire to eat me! Luckily, they began to fight one another over who got to eat which part of me first, which distracted them and let me sneak out. Unfortunately, this took my limited time (Timer -1). Eventually, I found the willow trees and harvested the Surgeon Sap.
Coffee Caps card draw = J♦
For the Coffee Caps, I once again found them near the noble elf that I passed on my first week. He offered me a story in exchange for a gift. I told him I didn't have anything of value with me that I was willing to part with. He just looked at me, clearly amused, and waved me off. Maybe we will meet again and I'll be able to hear his story.

A traveling dwarf named Baern Rubyeye is passing through the village. He lost a bet and his punishment was phodotrophy which turns him into a ravenous hamster during the full moon. Honestly, it kind of suits his looks and personality, but it is a nuisance to the villages he visits as he ends up munching on village wagons and walls, damaging them.
For this, I believe one trip to Hero's Hollow should be enough.
Reagent: [SKELETON DUST★★] - Difficulty 5 → 2
Reagent: [GHOST GOO★★★] - Difficulty 6 → 3
Note: Since my familiar has a Magic Eye, I can remove 3 difficulty points from each reagent as they are both magical ingredients!
Skeleton Dust card draw = 9♠
In the deeper parts of the dungeon, I came across a scared, newbie adventurer. He offered me 10 silver to lead him out. I knew it would take some time, but he was so helpless I couldn't say no. He helped me gather the rest of the skeleton dust I needed, and I led him to the top. (Timer -1)(+10 Silver)
Ghost Goo card draw = 4♦
The levels of the dungeon housing the ghosts are damp and dark. I'm tense and on alert when I hear a skittering down a hallway. I yelp when a small furry creature emerged from the darkness, and I breathed in relief as it waved and danced around my legs. It led me to a makeshift shop of sorts, with rings and swords and journals and trinkets. I assume gifts from long dead adventurers. I trade with the creature for an expensive perfume, and give the flute I found at the Loch a few weeks ago in exchange. He runs around my feet excitedly before waving bye as I resume my journey for Ghost Goo.

(7♥) As I stroll around the village I come across the bard who typically plays at the tavern, busking by the fountain. "Ah," he says, "Fine witch, let me play the favorite of the one who came before you!" A plucking, dancing tune began to play. I smiled as I saw in my mind's eye the raven haired woman with the clever smile dance to the music.

Skeleton Dust card draw = A♦
There was a trap in the dungeon that wasn't marked on my map. It deeply injured me! Luckily, my quest isn't on a timer this week or I would have lost 2 time slots as I patched myself up. Not wanting to stay longer than necessary, I gathered the needed amount of skeleton dust and power walked home.
